Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our integrated healthcare team in Santa Rosa, CA. This pivotal role involves leading the development and implementation of music-based interventions within our behavioral health services, with a strong clinical focus on patient recovery, well-being, and therapeutic outcomes. The successful candidate will design, deliver, and supervise evidence-based music therapy programs, work closely with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to a stable and supportive clinical environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive music therapy programs for behavioral health patients across various clinical settings.
- Provide direct, evidence-based music therapy services to individuals and groups, addressing a wide range of behavioral health conditions including anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic mental illness.
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans incorporating music therapy goals and interventions.
- Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into holistic treatment plans.
- Supervise and mentor junior music therapists, interns, or program assistants, providing guidance on clinical techniques, ethical practice, and professional development.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops and training sessions on the therapeutic benefits of music for staff and patient families.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and outcomes evaluations, in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, utilizing data to refine services and demonstrate clinical effectiveness.
- Manage resources effectively, including musical instruments, equipment, and therapeutic space.
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in music therapy and behavioral health, integrating new knowledge into practice.
Required Skills
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-certification clinical experience in behavioral health settings, including experience with diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in program development and team coordination.
- Proficiency in various musical instruments (e.g., guitar, piano, percussion) and ability to adapt musical interventions to patient needs.
- Strong understanding of psychological theories, psychopathology, and therapeutic modalities relevant to behavioral health.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with managed care systems and healthcare regulations.
- Experience in research or program evaluation related to music therapy outcomes.
