Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting new parents and their infants during one of life’s most precious journeys? Baptist Health South Florida is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals for a Part-time Weekend Maternity Support role. This rewarding position involves providing essential non-clinical assistance to mothers and families on our maternity wards, ensuring a comfortable, clean, and caring environment. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience, offering vital support that allows our clinical staff to focus on medical care. Key Responsibilities
- Provide non-clinical support to new mothers and their families, including emotional support and comfort.
- Assist with basic infant care activities under the direction of nursing staff, such as diaper changes and swaddling.
- Help maintain a clean and organized patient environment, ensuring rooms are tidy and supplies are stocked.
- Transport patients and their belongings within the maternity ward as needed.
- Assist with meal tray delivery and feeding support as appropriate.
- Respond to patient calls and requests promptly and courteously, escalating clinical concerns to nursing staff.
- Offer encouragement and act as a positive presence for families.
- Document observations and actions as required by departmental policies.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong empathy and compassion for patients and families
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to lift and move patients with assistance as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
