Job Description

Are you a true bibliophile with an eye for detail and a knack for elegant organization? Quintessentially is seeking a dedicated Bookcase & Collection Organizer to manage and curate the extensive personal libraries and collections of our high-net-worth members across Cheshire. This unique role involves not only organizing books by various systems (genre, author, color, chronology) but also cataloging valuable collections, ensuring their preservation, and creating aesthetically pleasing and functional displays. You will work directly with members, understanding their preferences and designing bespoke organizational solutions that reflect their individual tastes and lifestyle. This is more than just tidying; it’s about creating harmonious, accessible, and beautiful spaces for cherished possessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with Quintessentially members to understand their personal collections and organizational preferences.
  • Develop and implement bespoke organizational strategies for bookcases, art collections, antique displays, and other valuable items.
  • Catalog collections using appropriate systems (digital and physical) for easy retrieval and inventory management.
  • Arrange books and items aesthetically, considering flow, visual balance, and client-specific categorization.
  • Provide recommendations for storage solutions, display cases, and climate control where appropriate to preserve collections.
  • Handle delicate and valuable items with extreme care and discretion.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all client information and property.
  • Advise members on best practices for collection maintenance and future additions.
  • Travel to various member residences across Cheshire as required.

  • Exceptional organizational and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.

  • Physical ability to lift and move books and collection items.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in professional organizing, library science, archiving, interior design, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of collection management software or cataloging systems.
  • Understanding of preservation techniques for books and other collectibles.
  • A degree in literature, art history, library science, or a related humanities field.
