Job Description

As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our catering services within either a school or hospital environment in Leith, Edinburgh. You will assist with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to students, patients, staff, and visitors. This role is crucial in supporting the well-being and satisfaction of those we serve, contributing to a positive and hygienic dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of the catering team.
  • Serve meals and beverages to students, patients, and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Set up and clear dining areas, ensuring they are presentable and clean.
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, and kitchen equipment, adhering to hygiene standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
  • Operate basic catering equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and requests politely.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure during peak times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2).
  • Experience working in a school or hospital environment.
