Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and professional Class A Day Cab Drivers for local routes based out of our New Port Richey, Florida service center. This role offers consistent Monday-Friday schedules, ensuring you are home daily with no overnight runs. You will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of LTL freight, operating modern equipment, and representing Old Dominion Freight Line with the highest standards of service. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (day cab tractor and various trailer types) on local routes.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including manifests, bills of lading, and daily logs (ELD).
  • Ensure timely and efficient pickup and delivery of LTL freight to customers.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Interact professionally with customers, dispatch, and fellow team members.
  • Secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively regarding delays, issues, or route changes.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
  • Minimum of 12 months (1 year) verifiable commercial driving experience.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull freight as needed (up to 50 lbs consistently).
  • Proficient in using ELD (Electronic Logging Devices).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hazmat endorsement.
  • Experience with LTL freight transportation.
  • Experience operating manual transmission vehicles.
