Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Clinical Assistant to join our busy medical office in New Port Richey, FL. This full-time position operates on an afternoon roster, providing essential support to our healthcare providers and ensuring smooth clinic operations during peak hours. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for patient care. You will be instrumental in managing patient flow, assisting with administrative tasks, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check-in patients, verifying demographic and insurance information.
- Prepare exam rooms and sterilize equipment according to established protocols.
- Take and record patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures.
- Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and referrals.
- Handle incoming calls, direct inquiries, and respond to patient questions professionally.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Process lab orders and communicate results to patients as directed.
- Order and stock medical supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels.
- Assist with basic wound care, medication administration, and other clinical tasks under supervision.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic waiting area and examination rooms.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
- Experience with insurance verification and billing procedures.
- Familiarity with local healthcare regulations.
