Job Description

Siemens plc is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Control Systems (PLC) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Doncaster. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for various industrial applications.
  • Develop and implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems.
  • Conduct site surveys, define project requirements, and create detailed technical specifications.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schematics, logic diagrams, and test reports.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control networks (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  • Knowledge of electrical control panel design and industrial wiring practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or chartership.
  • Experience with industrial robotics or motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
  • Project management experience in automation projects.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in industrial control systems.
