Job Description
Siemens plc is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Control Systems (PLC) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Doncaster. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced control systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for various industrial applications.
- Develop and implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems.
- Conduct site surveys, define project requirements, and create detailed technical specifications.
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal functionality.
- Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schematics, logic diagrams, and test reports.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure).
- Experience with HMI/SCADA development and configuration.
- Strong understanding of industrial control networks (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Knowledge of electrical control panel design and industrial wiring practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or chartership.
- Experience with industrial robotics or motion control systems.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
- Project management experience in automation projects.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in industrial control systems.
