Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Correctional Facility Nurse to join our dedicated team in Evanston, IL. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within a secure correctional setting. This position requires a strong clinical background, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to adapt to a unique and structured healthcare environment. You will be instrumental in promoting patient health, managing chronic conditions, and responding to medical emergencies, all while upholding professional standards and ethical practices. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
- Conduct thorough health screenings and evaluations for new admissions and ongoing care.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, including providing basic and advanced life support as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, ensuring proper documentation of all patient interactions, treatments, and responses.
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, security personnel, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients on health conditions, medication regimens, and self-care practices to promote healthier outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company and facility policies and procedures.
- Manage and maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
Required Skills
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
- Proven ability to perform comprehensive clinical assessments and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology and medication administration techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in correctional healthcare, emergency medicine, acute care, or a similar high-acuity setting.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience in mental health assessment and crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
