Job Description

Are you a passionate gamer with a keen eye for detail and a love for indie titles? We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative EA Originals Indie Game Tester to join our team in Tucson, Arizona. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and playability of upcoming indie games published under the EA Originals label. You’ll work closely with development teams, providing crucial feedback that shapes the player experience, identifies bugs, and contributes to the overall polish and enjoyment of diverse gaming projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive test plans and procedures to identify and document software defects, glitches, and usability issues.
  • Thoroughly test new game features, content, and system functionalities across various platforms.
  • Provide detailed, accurate, and constructive written and verbal feedback on gameplay mechanics, balance, design, and overall player experience.
  • Reproduce, analyze, and report bugs using internal bug tracking software, ensuring clear and concise documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with developers, designers, and other QA team members to understand project requirements and priorities.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings to discuss progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and stay current with industry trends, particularly within the indie gaming sector.
  • Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing to ensure identified issues are resolved without introducing new problems.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional passion for video games, especially indie titles and diverse genres.
  • Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to identifying discrepancies and errors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate issues and feedback.
  • Proficiency with various gaming platforms (PC, consoles, mobile).
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with standard office software.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and test cases accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards finding solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in quality assurance (QA) or game testing, even in an informal capacity (e.g., beta testing, modding).
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Understanding of game development methodologies and lifecycles.
  • Experience playing a wide variety of indie games and familiarity with their unique characteristics.
  • Relevant certifications or coursework in game design, computer science, or related fields.
