Job Description

Join Kindermusik of Portland as an Early Childhood Music Leader and inspire the next generation of music lovers! This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about working with young children, even if you have no prior music teaching experience. We provide comprehensive training in the Kindermusik curriculum and play-based teaching methodologies. You will facilitate engaging music and movement classes, fostering a joyful and developmental environment for children and their caregivers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging and age-appropriate Kindermusik classes for various age groups (babies, toddlers, preschoolers), utilizing play-based learning techniques.
  • Implement the Kindermusik curriculum effectively, adapting activities to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic classroom atmosphere for children and their families.
  • Communicate regularly and positively with parents/caregivers, providing insights into their child's development.
  • Prepare classroom materials and set up/take down equipment for each class.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and Kindermusik training sessions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized teaching space.
  • Represent Kindermusik of Portland with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times.

Required Skills

  • Passion for working with young children (ages 0-7) and their families.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity.
  • Reliability and strong organizational abilities.
  • Basic musical aptitude or willingness to learn (e.g., ability to sing in tune, keep a beat).
  • Availability to work consistent part-time hours, including evenings and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting (e.g., daycare, camp counselor, babysitting).
  • Background in music, dance, theater, or early childhood education.
  • Familiarity with play-based learning philosophies.
