Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and the joy of working with nature? Riverford Organic Farmers is seeking dedicated Eco-Farm Pickers to join our team in Coventry. This role is crucial to our operation, ensuring that our organically grown produce is harvested with care and efficiency, ready to be delivered fresh to our customers. You will be an integral part of our farm, contributing directly to our mission of providing wholesome, environmentally friendly food. This position offers a unique opportunity to work outdoors, learn about organic farming, and contribute to a healthier planet.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully harvest a variety of organic vegetables and fruits according to specific quality and ripeness standards.
- Operate basic farm machinery and tools safely and effectively for harvesting tasks.
- Assist with packing and sorting produce in the field to ensure freshness and prevent damage.
- Monitor crop health and report any issues or pests to farm management.
- Participate in general field maintenance, including weeding, planting, and irrigation setup as required.
- Adhere strictly to organic farming certification standards and health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Work collaboratively with the farm team to achieve daily harvesting targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure quality produce selection.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn about organic farming principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a similar outdoor manual labour role.
- Knowledge of different vegetable and fruit varieties and their harvesting requirements.
- Full UK driving license and access to transport due to farm location.
