Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Exterior Painting Helper to join our property maintenance team in Longlevens, Gloucester. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to start a career in property maintenance, focusing specifically on ground-level fence and wall painting. You will work alongside experienced painters, learning valuable skills and contributing to the aesthetic appeal and protection of various properties. This role requires a good work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead painters in preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, and light sanding of fences and ground-level walls.
- Apply paint, stain, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment under direct supervision.
- Safely set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other painting equipment.
- Protect adjacent areas from paint splatters using drop cloths, tape, and masking materials.
- Organise and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures on site.
- Help with the clean-up of the work area after painting is complete, including disposing of waste materials.
- Transport materials and equipment to and from the work site as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and take instruction from experienced painters.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manual labour or outdoor work environment.
- A valid UK driving licence (Category B).
- Basic knowledge of painting tools and techniques.
