Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Exterior Painting Helper to join our team in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the trade and contribute to our high standards of work. You will primarily assist skilled painters with ground-level preparation and painting tasks on fences and walls, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina and attention to detail, working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead painters with site setup and preparation, including moving materials and equipment.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, and filling cracks/holes on fences and walls.
  • Apply paint, primer, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and other tools as directed.
  • Safely use and maintain painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Protect surrounding areas from paint splatters by covering adjacent surfaces, plants, and pathways.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout the project and at completion.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and challenges.
  • Undertake general labouring tasks as required to support the painting team.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a labouring, construction, or painting environment (even minor experience is a plus).
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of basic painting techniques and materials.
  • CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
