Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Exterior Painting Helper to join our team in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the trade and contribute to our high standards of work. You will primarily assist skilled painters with ground-level preparation and painting tasks on fences and walls, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina and attention to detail, working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead painters with site setup and preparation, including moving materials and equipment.
- Clean and prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, and filling cracks/holes on fences and walls.
- Apply paint, primer, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and other tools as directed.
- Safely use and maintain painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
- Protect surrounding areas from paint splatters by covering adjacent surfaces, plants, and pathways.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout the project and at completion.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and challenges.
- Undertake general labouring tasks as required to support the painting team.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures or willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a labouring, construction, or painting environment (even minor experience is a plus).
- Full UK driving license.
- Knowledge of basic painting techniques and materials.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
