Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Federal Policy Fellow to join our team in Akron, Ohio. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical federal policy initiatives, gain hands-on experience in government relations and policy analysis, and embark on a pathway to obtaining and maintaining a U.S. government security clearance. As a Fellow, you will work alongside seasoned experts, providing essential research and analytical support to projects impacting national security, defense, and various federal agencies. This role is designed for individuals passionate about public service and eager to develop a deep understanding of the federal policy landscape while growing into a secure and impactful career.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth policy research and analysis on topics relevant to federal government programs, national security, and emerging technologies.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, tracking key bills, hearings, and policy discussions.
- Draft comprehensive policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of stakeholder engagement strategies and materials for interactions with federal agencies, Capitol Hill, and industry partners.
- Contribute to the development of strategic policy recommendations and frameworks that address client challenges and advance national interests.
- Actively participate in the U.S. government security clearance application process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to all government and company protocols.
- Support project management activities, including scheduling, meeting coordination, and documentation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience in preparing professional reports and presentations.
- Fundamental understanding of U.S. federal policy-making processes, government structures, and legislative procedures.
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (e.g., MPP, MPA, MA) in a relevant policy or international affairs discipline.
- Prior internship or professional experience (e.g., 1-2 years) in government, on Capitol Hill, with a think tank, or in federal consulting.
- Existing U.S. government security clearance (e.g., Secret or Top Secret).
- Familiarity with legislative tracking software or policy databases.
- Foreign language proficiency relevant to national security or international affairs.
