Job Description
Are you passionate about pets and eager to start a rewarding career in animal care? Pets at Home is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Pet Groomer Aide for our Groom Room in Bath. This entry-level position is perfect for those with little to no prior experience in grooming, as we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to teach you everything you need to know about bathing, brushing, and basic grooming techniques. You’ll work alongside experienced groomers, learn best practices for animal handling, safety, and customer service, all while helping pets look and feel their best. This is an incredible opportunity to grow your skills within a supportive environment and potentially progress into a fully qualified Pet Groomer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced groomers with bathing and drying pets of various breeds and sizes.
- Learn and apply safe and humane animal handling techniques under supervision.
- Prepare grooming areas and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.
- Perform basic brushing, de-shedding, and de-matting tasks as instructed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including washing towels and sanitizing tools.
- Assist with client communication, including greeting pet owners and helping with check-ins/check-outs.
- Observe and learn advanced grooming techniques and pet care best practices.
- Monitor pets for any signs of distress or health concerns and report them to senior staff.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all animals in our care throughout the grooming process.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for animals, either professionally or personally.
- Experience in a customer service role.
- Basic knowledge of different dog and cat breeds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
