Job Description

Join FedEx Freight as a Dockworker for our afternoon shift. This critical role involves safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight from trailers, sorting packages, and moving materials within the service center. You will operate various material handling equipment and ensure all freight is handled according to company standards and safety protocols. This is a full-time position with the added benefit of no weekend shifts, allowing for a predictable schedule and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently from trailers using various material handling equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery in a safe manner.
  • Inspect freight for damage and verify counts against manifests.
  • Sort and stage freight according to destination.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely processing of freight.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 75 lbs on a consistent basis.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels and count items.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift or similar material handling equipment.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse, freight, or logistics environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
