Job Description
Are you passionate about empowering creators to produce high-quality content from their home studios? Do you have a knack for simplifying complex technical setups and a deep understanding of audio, video, and lighting equipment? Patreon is seeking a Home Studio Consultant to provide expert remote guidance and support to our diverse community of creators. This role is perfect for someone who loves problem-solving, is an excellent communicator, and enjoys helping others achieve their creative vision. You will work directly with creators, offering personalized advice on optimizing their home studio environments for various content types, from podcasts and music to video tutorials and live streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one remote consultations to creators on home studio setup and optimization.
- Offer expert advice on selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting audio recording equipment (microphones, interfaces, mixers).
- Guide creators on video production essentials, including camera choice, lighting techniques, and green screen setup.
- Assist with software recommendations and basic usage for audio/video editing and live streaming.
- Diagnose and resolve common technical issues related to home studio environments.
- Develop and update educational resources, guides, and best practices for home studio improvements.
- Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in home audio/video production and creator tools.
- Maintain detailed records of consultations and provide feedback for product and service improvements.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in home studio audio and video production.
- Strong understanding of various microphone types, audio interfaces, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Proficiency with video cameras, lighting setups (e.g., softboxes, ring lights), and basic video editing software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a patient, creator-centric approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Audio Engineering, Film Studies, or a related field.
- Experience as a content creator with a personal home studio setup.
- Familiarity with streaming platforms (e.g., OBS Studio, Streamlabs OBS) and live production techniques.
- Knowledge of acoustic treatment for home environments.
- Prior experience in a consulting or technical support role.
