Job Description
Join AdventHealth Orlando as a Hospital Sitter and become a vital part of our patient care team. In this rewarding role, you will provide continuous direct observation for patients at risk of harm, ensuring their safety and well-being. This is a non-clinical support position focused solely on observation and companionship, designed for individuals who are reliable, compassionate, and attentive. Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuous, uninterrupted visual observation of assigned patients.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, immediately reporting any safety concerns to nursing staff.
- Engage patients in non-medical conversation or activities as appropriate to provide companionship.
- Assist patients with non-medical needs such as comfort, emotional support, and calling for nursing assistance.
- Document observations and report any changes in patient behavior or condition to the primary nurse promptly.
- Adhere to all AdventHealth policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
Required Skills
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
- Strong sense of empathy and compassion.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a caregiving or customer service role.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained post-hire).
- Understanding of patient safety principles.
