Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Houston Energy Sector Analyst with a strong focus on Data Intelligence to join our team in Ontario, California. In this role, you will be instrumental in collecting, processing, and analyzing vast datasets related to the Houston energy market, identifying trends, forecasting market behavior, and providing actionable insights to drive strategic decisions. This position requires a deep understanding of energy markets, exceptional data analysis capabilities, and proficiency in relevant analytical tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and manage large datasets pertaining to the Houston energy sector, including production, consumption, pricing, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.
- Perform in-depth statistical analysis and develop predictive models to forecast energy market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Generate comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate complex data insights to stakeholders at various levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, strategy, and operations, to integrate data intelligence into business planning and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze competitive intelligence, technological advancements, and policy shifts impacting the Houston energy landscape.
- Identify and implement new data sources and analytical methodologies to enhance the accuracy and scope of market intelligence.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, market research, or business intelligence, preferably within the energy sector.
- Proven expertise in data manipulation and analysis using tools like Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) or R.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and management.
- Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Solid understanding of economic principles and market dynamics within the oil & gas, renewables, or broader energy industry.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Specific experience analyzing the Houston/Gulf Coast energy market.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data storage and processing.
- Experience with advanced statistical techniques and machine learning applications.
- CFA or equivalent financial certification.
