Job Description

As an Independent Courier, you will be responsible for picking up and delivering packages within a designated service area using your own cargo van. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently pick up and deliver a variety of packages to customers within a specified geographic area.
- Operate and maintain your own cargo van in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Utilize provided delivery technology (e.g., scanner, app) for tracking and proof of delivery.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all delivery tasks and paperwork.
- Provide professional and courteous service to all customers.
- Adhere to all UPS operational procedures and service standards.
- Manage your time effectively to complete routes within specified windows.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ownership of a reliable cargo van (sprinter, box truck, or similar) in good working condition.
- Proof of commercial auto insurance.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Familiarity with local Evanston area roads and routes.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an independent contractor or delivery driver.
- Experience using navigation and delivery tracking software.
- Established business entity (e.g., LLC) and Employer Identification Number (EIN).
