Job Description
Are you a skilled Industrial Chemist looking for a dynamic role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? PPG Industries is seeking a dedicated Industrial Chemist to provide crucial manufacturing support at our New Port Richey facility. This unique position offers a 4-day work week, allowing for an excellent work-life balance. You will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, ensuring quality control, and troubleshooting chemical-related issues to maintain our high standards of product excellence and operational efficiency. We are looking for a proactive individual with a strong background in chemical synthesis, analytical techniques, and process improvement within a manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert chemical support for manufacturing operations, including process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory techniques (e.g., GC, HPLC, Titration, Viscometry).
- Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods as needed to support product development and quality control.
- Monitor and maintain quality control systems, ensuring adherence to established specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate and resolve product non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and engineering teams to address chemical-related challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work, test results, and experimental data.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel on chemical handling, safety procedures, and quality protocols.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in various analytical techniques and instrumentation (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Titration).
- Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex chemical processes and formulate effective solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, EPA) relevant to chemical manufacturing.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing setting.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Prior experience in the paints, coatings, or specialty chemicals industry.
- Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
- Demonstrated experience in process development and scale-up.
