Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Database Engineer with a strong focus on SQL to join our growing AI Data team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the data infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge AI initiatives. You will work closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to ensure data availability, integrity, and performance for various AI models and applications. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases and schemas to support AI/ML data requirements.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to understand data needs and implement efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data pipelines for ingesting and processing large datasets relevant to AI applications.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all managed databases.
- Participate in database capacity planning and performance tuning activities.
- Document database designs, processes, and operational procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and best practices, particularly those related to AI and big data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data infrastructure and tooling.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL (querying, DDL, DML)
- Familiarity with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
- Understanding of database design principles and normalization
- Basic knowledge of data warehousing concepts
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database services (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL)
- Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Basic understanding of Python for scripting and data manipulation
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and data requirements for model training
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
