Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Lowboy Trailer Driver to join our team in Round Rock, TX. As a Lowboy Trailer Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other machinery, to various job sites, dealerships, and customer locations. This role requires exceptional driving skills, a thorough understanding of heavy equipment securement, and a commitment to safety regulations and company policies. You will operate specialized lowboy trailers, ensuring all loads are properly secured, weighted, and delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate lowboy trailers to transport heavy construction equipment to and from various locations.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment safely and efficiently, using proper securement techniques including chaining, binding, and strapping.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, documenting any deficiencies.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and trailers, reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and traffic laws.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery tickets, and all required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of assigned truck and trailer.
  • Assist with minor equipment adjustments or troubleshooting as needed at job sites.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment.
  • Proficient in securing various types of heavy construction equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols related to heavy haul transportation.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver heavy equipment and securement devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with oversized load permitting and regulations.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude for minor truck and trailer repairs.
