Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and reliable Junior Vault Assistant to join our team in Portland, ME. This entry-level role is critical to maintaining the integrity and security of our financial assets within a secure bank environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for precise cash handling, meticulous record-keeping, and adhering to strict security protocols within the bank’s vault. This position requires exceptional accuracy, trustworthiness, and a commitment to operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify cash, checks, and other valuable items accurately within the vault.
- Maintain precise records of all vault transactions, ensuring all logs are up-to-date and reconciled daily.
- Adhere strictly to all security policies and procedures to safeguard bank assets and maintain compliance.
- Assist with daily vault balancing and reconciliation activities, reporting any discrepancies.
- Prepare cash orders and shipments for various bank branches and clients.
- Operate cash counting machines and other vault equipment efficiently and safely.
- Report any discrepancies or suspicious activities immediately to management.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth and secure daily operations.
- Perform general administrative tasks related to vault operations as needed.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Strong basic mathematical and counting skills.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a secure and controlled environment.
- Good verbal communication skills for internal team interactions.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy bags of coin and currency (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and data entry.

- Previous experience in cash handling or a financial services environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
