Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organized Linen Assistant to join our hospital logistics team at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. In this routine, ongoing role, you will be crucial in ensuring a consistent and clean supply of linens and uniforms throughout our facility. This position involves managing linen distribution, collection, inventory, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and order within the linen department. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect soiled linens from patient rooms, operating suites, and other hospital departments.
  • Sort, weigh, and prepare linens for transport to the laundry facility.
  • Receive, unload, and store clean linens and uniforms.
  • Distribute clean linens to various hospital units according to established par levels.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of linen supplies.
  • Inspect linens for damage or stains and report discrepancies.
  • Operate linen carts and other basic equipment safely.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special linen requests as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the linen storage areas.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy linen carts (up to 50 lbs consistently).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of basic sanitation and hygiene principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, hotel, or industrial laundry setting.
  • Knowledge of hospital logistics and departmental needs.
