Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Local Council Minibus Driver to join our Community Transport team in New Glasgow. This role is crucial for delivering essential transportation services to various community groups, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and school children. You will be responsible for safely operating a minibus, adhering to schedules, and providing a friendly and supportive environment for all passengers. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a minibus safely and efficiently on scheduled routes and demand-responsive services.
  • Assist passengers, including those with mobility challenges, with boarding and alighting the vehicle.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transit.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Maintain accurate passenger logs and mileage records.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service, fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere for passengers.
  • Handle passenger inquiries and resolve minor issues professionally.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle.
  • Undergo regular training to ensure compliance with transport regulations and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 4 Nova Scotia Driver's License (or equivalent, willing to obtain).
  • Clean driving record with no major infractions.
  • Proven ability to drive safely and responsibly.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to assist passengers with diverse needs.
  • Good geographical knowledge of New Glasgow and surrounding areas.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly organized.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a community transport or passenger driving role.
  • Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Defensive driving certification.
