Job Description

Are you looking to start a rewarding career in the flooring industry? Carpetright is seeking a dedicated LVT Flooring Assistant to join our expert team in Kingston upon Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a strong work ethic to learn the craft of LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) installation from experienced professionals. You will play a crucial role in preparing sites and supporting our skilled fitters, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of flooring preparation and laying, contributing to the beautiful and durable finishes our customers expect. Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with site preparation, including clearing existing flooring, sweeping, and levelling subfloors.
  • Cutting and preparing underlay and adhesive as instructed by the lead fitter.
  • Supporting the lead fitter during the LVT laying process, ensuring efficiency and precision.
  • Transporting and handling materials and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work area on all job sites.
  • Learning and strictly adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting with the final clean-up and responsible disposal of waste materials.
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of different LVT products and installation techniques.

Required Skills

  • Good manual dexterity and a practical, hands-on mindset.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry materials, and work in various positions.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong team player mentality.
  • Reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some basic experience with hand tools or in a manual trade is a plus, but not essential.
  • A full UK driving license would be beneficial for future career progression.
  • An enthusiastic interest in learning about the flooring industry and skilled trades.
