Job Description

Rio Rancho Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Band Director to lead our vibrant music program. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing students in instrumental music, conducting rehearsals and performances, and managing the band’s equipment budget. This role requires a strong understanding of music pedagogy, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a love for music in young learners. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement curriculum, organize concerts, and contribute to the cultural life of our school community. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive middle school band curriculum.
  • Conduct daily instrumental music classes and rehearsals.
  • Prepare students for concerts, festivals, and other performances.
  • Manage the band's equipment inventory and annual budget effectively.
  • Collaborate with other music educators and school staff.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and upcoming events.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular band activities and trips.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adhere to school district policies and state educational standards.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid New Mexico teaching license or eligibility.
  • Proficiency in conducting instrumental ensembles.
  • Strong knowledge of various band instruments and music theory.
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire middle school students.
  • Familiarity with budget management and equipment maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Education.
  • Previous experience as a Middle School Band Director.
  • Experience with diverse musical styles and genres.
  • Active participation in professional music organizations.
