Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Music Copyright Specialist with a strong focus on Intellectual Property to join our stable team in New Port Richey, FL. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in managing and safeguarding our extensive catalog of musical compositions. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to copyright registration, licensing, tracking, and dispute resolution, ensuring the integrity and proper monetization of our songwriters’ intellectual property. This position requires a thorough understanding of copyright law, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within the dynamic music publishing landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process copyright registrations with relevant collection societies and governmental bodies.
  • Review and interpret licensing agreements to ensure compliance and proper rights management.
  • Monitor usage of copyrighted material across various platforms to identify potential infringements.
  • Assist in the resolution of copyright disputes, including research, documentation, and communication with legal teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date copyright data within internal databases and systems.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including legal, licensing, and royalties, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide support for special projects related to intellectual property audits and catalog acquisition.
  • Stay informed of changes in copyright law and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance.

Required Skills

  • Proven understanding of US and international copyright law, particularly as it pertains to music.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in copyright administration or intellectual property rights management, preferably within the music or entertainment industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience with music publishing administration software or rights management systems.
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal support experience.
  • Familiarity with digital rights management (DRM) technologies.
