Job Description

Join Xcel Energy as a Natural Gas Fleet Driver Trainee! This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in the vital energy sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate fully in Xcel Energy's comprehensive driver training program, including classroom instruction and extensive on-the-road practice.
  • Work diligently towards obtaining a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with all necessary endorsements, supported by our expert instructors.
  • Learn, understand, and consistently adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
  • Assist experienced drivers in the safe and efficient transport of natural gas and related equipment, observing best practices.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, promptly reporting any defects or issues.
  • Maintain accurate and complete logs and records as required by DOT and company policy.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, team members, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement in all tasks.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt to new procedures, and embrace new technologies.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for vehicle inspections and minor maintenance checks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
