Job Description
Are you deeply entrenched in the world of online youth culture? Do you have an uncanny ability to spot emerging trends before they go viral? TikTok is seeking an enthusiastic and insightful Online Brand Scout to join our innovative team. In this unique role, you will be responsible for meticulously monitoring online platforms, social media, and digital communities to identify and analyze trends, language, and content popular among 15-year-old teens. Your findings will directly inform our content strategy, brand partnerships, and platform features, ensuring TikTok remains at the forefront of youth culture. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a genuine passion for understanding what resonates with the next generation of digital natives.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively research and identify emerging trends, memes, challenges, and cultural shifts within the 15-year-old teen demographic across various online platforms, especially TikTok.
- Analyze content, hashtags, sounds, and user behavior to understand the mechanics and drivers of virality and popularity.
- Provide regular, actionable reports and presentations on identified trends, including qualitative insights and quantitative data where possible.
- Collaborate closely with content strategy, marketing, product development, and brand partnership teams to integrate trend insights into strategic initiatives.
- Stay informed about competitor activities and broader shifts in the digital media landscape affecting youth culture.
- Assist in the development of creative briefs for new content campaigns based on observed trends.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to ideate innovative ways to leverage teen trends for platform growth and user engagement.
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency and active engagement with TikTok and other major social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, etc.).
- Exceptional ability to identify patterns and anomalies in online behavior and content.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated interest in youth culture, digital trends, and online communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- Experience in market research, trend forecasting, social media analytics, or content strategy.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and reporting methodologies.
- Ability to speak a second language relevant to global youth culture (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin).
