Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly motivated Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our dynamic team in Garland, TX. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the foundational aspects of pharmacy operations within a fast-paced outpatient clinical setting. As a trainee, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and experienced pharmacy technicians, gaining hands-on experience in medication preparation, inventory management, patient support, and adherence to strict safety protocols. This role offers comprehensive on-the-job training and a clear pathway for professional growth within our esteemed healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians in the preparation and dispensing of medications to patients.
- Learn and accurately perform medication compounding, packaging, and labeling procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing inquiries and processing transactions.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Participate in training programs and complete required coursework to achieve pharmacy technician certification.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the pharmacy.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and prior authorization processes as directed.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Enrollment in or completion of a pharmacy technician training program.
