Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Part-time Swim Assistant to join our aquatics team for weekend shifts at our Getty Square location. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about water safety and supporting swim instruction, providing crucial assistance to our certified swim instructors and ensuring a safe and engaging experience for all participants. You will play a vital role in maintaining order, assisting with lessons, and being a friendly face to our members.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified swim instructors with lesson preparation and delivery.
- Monitor poolside activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
- Help swimmers, especially children, enter and exit the pool safely.
- Demonstrate proper swimming techniques and provide individual support as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized poolside area, including equipment setup and storage.
- Engage with members and parents, providing excellent customer service.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations under the supervision of the lead instructor or lifeguard.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills
- Strong swimming abilities and comfort in water.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children and diverse age groups.
- Reliability and punctuality for weekend shifts.
- Basic understanding of water safety principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a swim assistant, camp counselor, or similar role.
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Knowledge of various swimming strokes and teaching methodologies.
- Lifeguard certification (a plus, but not required for this assistant role).
