Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our team in a dynamic children’s hospital environment. This vital role involves providing direct patient care to infants, children, and adolescents, working closely with families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor vital signs, observe patient conditions, and accurately document all relevant data.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and home care instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and child-friendly environment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Respond to emergency situations effectively and efficiently.
- Advocate for the needs and well-being of pediatric patients and their families.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification.
- Experience with specialized pediatric units (e.g., PICU, NICU, Oncology).
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
