Job Description
As a Pinterest Community Safety Officer focusing on Corporate Governance, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our community and platform integrity. This position involves developing, implementing, and enforcing policies that ensure a safe and trustworthy environment for Pinners, creators, and advertisers, while aligning with global regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks. You will work closely with legal, product, engineering, and trust & safety teams to proactively identify risks, manage critical incidents, and drive strategic initiatives that uphold Pinterest’s values and compliance obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and refine community guidelines and content policies to address emerging threats and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Investigate complex policy violations and sensitive incidents, providing expert analysis and recommendations for resolution.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on regulatory compliance matters, data privacy, and intellectual property rights relevant to community safety.
- Work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to integrate safety-by-design principles into new features and platform functionalities.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings on community safety metrics, policy effectiveness, and governance risks to senior leadership.
- Act as a subject matter expert on content moderation, platform abuse, and user trust within the corporate governance framework.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training programs for internal teams on community safety policies and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in online safety and corporate responsibility.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in trust & safety, content moderation, compliance, or corporate governance within a technology or social media company.
- Strong understanding of online safety challenges, including hate speech, misinformation, harassment, and illegal content.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, interpretation, and enforcement.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on ethical considerations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience engaging with external stakeholders, including regulators, law enforcement, and advocacy groups.
- Familiarity with global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and online content laws.
- Project management experience, particularly in leading initiatives related to platform safety or governance.
- Experience with incident response management and crisis communication.
