Job Description
As a Pinterest Metadata Analyst with a Machine Learning focus, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the discoverability and relevance of content across the Pinterest platform. You will leverage your expertise in data analysis and machine learning to understand, classify, and enrich the vast metadata associated with Pins. Your insights will directly impact user experience, improving search results, recommendations, and overall content organization. This is a remote position, welcoming applications from candidates based in the Fargo, North Dakota area.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large and complex datasets of Pinterest metadata to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop, implement, and refine machine learning models for automated metadata classification, tagging, and enrichment.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate ML solutions into production systems and improve content understanding algorithms.
- Monitor the performance of metadata quality and ML models, proactively identifying issues and driving resolution.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and generate actionable insights to guide content strategy and product development.
- Design and execute experiments to test new metadata strategies and machine learning approaches.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, NLP, and data science to propose innovative solutions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar role with a strong focus on metadata.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with machine learning concepts and techniques (e.g., classification, clustering, natural language processing).
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
- Experience with large-scale data processing tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Prior experience working with social media data or visual content platforms.
- Understanding of information retrieval or recommendation systems.
- Experience with A/B testing methodologies and experimental design.
