Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our dynamic team. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, providing essential health services to the residents of Wake County. The Public Health Nurse will be instrumental in delivering direct patient care, conducting health assessments, implementing community health programs, and educating the public on various health topics. This role requires a strong commitment to public service, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively within diverse community settings. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments and screenings for individuals and families in diverse community settings.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate health education programs for various age groups and populations.
- Administer immunizations and other preventive health services in clinics and community outreach events.
- Provide case management for clients with chronic diseases, infectious diseases, and other public health concerns.
- Participate in disease surveillance, investigation, and control efforts.
- Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and other agencies to improve health outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Advocate for public health policies and initiatives that promote community well-being.
- Respond to public health emergencies and participate in disaster preparedness activities.
Required Skills
- Active RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical or public health setting
- Strong assessment, planning, and intervention skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in community health nursing or a government health agency
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Arabic)
- Knowledge of local community resources and public health policies
- Certification in Public Health (CPH)
