Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented QC Instrumentation Chemist to join our dynamic Quality Control team in Naperville, IL. This role is ideal for a chemist with a solid foundation in analytical chemistry who is eager to advance their expertise through our comprehensive ‘Expert Level Training’ program. You will be responsible for performing complex analytical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using a variety of advanced instrumentation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and compliance with industry standards, while continuously developing their skills under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using GC, HPLC, ICP, AA, FTIR, UV-Vis, and other laboratory instrumentation.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Interpret and analyze data, identifying trends and potential deviations; report findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods in accordance with regulatory guidelines and internal procedures.
- Document all experimental data and procedures accurately and thoroughly in laboratory notebooks and LIMS.
- Participate in 'Expert Level Training' initiatives, including workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, ISO, and all relevant safety and quality regulations.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and other QC teams to support product development and problem-solving.
- Assist in investigations of out-of-specification results and implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the laboratory environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Control or analytical laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (e.g., GC, HPLC, ICP-OES/MS, FTIR).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and statistical data analysis.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and data management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, environmental).
- Knowledge of method validation and transfer protocols.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with Agilent, Waters, or Thermo Fisher Scientific instrumentation.
- Certification in analytical techniques or quality assurance.
