Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Center Porter to join our physiotherapy support team in Bath. In this essential role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our rehabilitation facility, directly supporting our physiotherapists and patient care. Your contributions will help create a safe, clean, and efficient environment conducive to patient recovery and staff productivity. This position requires physical fitness, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to supporting healthcare professionals and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with mobility, including transferring them between wards, therapy areas, and vehicles, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Transport equipment, supplies, and medical records securely and efficiently throughout the rehabilitation center.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in therapy rooms, equipment storage areas, and common spaces, adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
- Prepare therapy areas for patient sessions, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in working order.
- Support physiotherapists by retrieving and setting up equipment as directed.
- Respond promptly to requests from clinical staff and patients, demonstrating a helpful and professional demeanor.
- Handle linen and waste management according to established procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, patient confidentiality, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a kind and empathetic approach to patients.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, healthcare assistant, or support role within a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques.
- Basic IT literacy for simple record-keeping.
- First Aid certification.
