Job Description
Are you a design student eager to build a standout portfolio with real-world projects? Canva is looking for a passionate and creative Remote Student Designer to join our team. This internship is an incredible opportunity to hone your design skills, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to projects that reach millions globally. We’re specifically looking for individuals with a strong desire to learn and a keen eye for visual communication, even if your portfolio is still in its early stages. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the chance to work from anywhere within the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers in developing visual content for various projects, including marketing materials, in-product elements, and user interface designs.
- Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback effectively to refine designs.
- Conduct research on design trends, user experience best practices, and competitor analysis.
- Support the creation of presentations, mockups, and prototypes.
- Maintain organized design files and adhere to brand guidelines.
- Actively seek opportunities to learn new design software and techniques.
- Contribute fresh ideas and creative solutions to design challenges.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a design-related degree program (e.g., Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Communications).
- A foundational understanding of design principles (typography, color theory, layout).
- Proficiency in at least one industry-standard design software (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
- A developing portfolio showcasing personal or academic design projects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with animation or motion graphics.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for web design contexts.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
