Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Research Assistant to join our innovative team in Greenbrier, Chesapeake. This is a direct hire position, offering stability and growth opportunities within Labcorp Drug Development, not a temporary placement through a staffing agency. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting various research projects by performing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. You will work closely with senior scientists and researchers, contributing directly to the success of our scientific initiatives. This role is ideal for an organized individual with a passion for scientific discovery and a strong commitment to accuracy and detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory experiments and procedures under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Collect, record, and analyze experimental data with precision and accuracy.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and culture media according to established protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and organized laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Assist with the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage laboratory inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels.
  • Perform basic data entry and statistical analysis as required.
  • Contribute to a clean and organized laboratory environment.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a research laboratory setting (academic or industry).
  • Experience with specific analytical instruments (e.g., spectrophotometers, centrifuges, PCR machines).
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
