Job Description
As a Resident Assistant at Brookdale Senior Living, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to our residents in an assisted living setting. You will assist residents with their daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This position requires a compassionate individual with a strong desire to help others and foster a positive, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide medication reminders and observe residents for changes in condition, reporting concerns to nursing staff.
- Assist residents with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Engage residents in social activities and foster a stimulating environment.
- Serve meals and assist residents with eating as needed, encouraging proper nutrition.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks in resident rooms and common areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance and emergencies.
- Document care provided and observations accurately in resident records.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state regulations regarding resident care.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated compassion and patience for older adults
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic computer skills for documentation
- Reliability and strong work ethic
- Ability to lift and assist residents as required by physical demands of the role
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or senior living setting (assisted living, nursing home, home health)
- Current CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification
- First Aid and CPR certification
