Job Description
Join UPS as a Building Maintenance Technician with a specialized focus on electrical systems and HVAC. This stable, full-time position is crucial for ensuring the optimal functionality and safety of our facility in Durham, NC. You will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled duties in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment, with an emphasis on electrical infrastructure, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires a proactive individual who can diagnose problems, perform repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance to support continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, circuits, and power distribution.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including air handlers, compressors, chillers, and associated controls.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues promptly and efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections of facility infrastructure and equipment to identify potential problems.
- Execute repairs on plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs when necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated expertise in HVAC system repair and preventative maintenance.
- Strong understanding of building codes, electrical safety standards, and HVAC best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in HVAC (e.g., EPA Universal Certification).
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS).
- Knowledge of energy management practices.
- Prior experience in a large-scale industrial or logistics facility.
