Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Retail Security Officer to join our team in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. This is a crucial role responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within a prominent retail establishment. As a Static Post Officer, you will ensure the protection of assets, deter theft, and provide a visible security presence, contributing to a positive experience for customers and staff. This position offers stable hours and an opportunity to work within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a highly visible and professional security presence to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.
- Conduct regular patrols of the assigned retail premises, identifying and reporting any security risks, suspicious activities, or maintenance issues.
- Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment to identify and respond to potential threats or incidents.
- Respond effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including managing conflict, diffusing situations, and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
- Prevent loss and damage by actively observing and intervening in cases of shoplifting, vandalism, or other security breaches.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other documentation as required.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers and staff with enquiries, directions, and general support while maintaining security protocols.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
- Collaborate with retail management and staff to ensure a coordinated approach to security.
- Undergo regular training to stay updated on best security practices and company policies.
Required Skills
- SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding License (valid and current)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Basic IT literacy for report writing and security system operation
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of personal presentation and conduct
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail security or similar customer-facing security role
- First Aid qualification
- Conflict resolution training
- Experience with CCTV monitoring and alarm systems
