Job Description
Are you passionate about safety and looking to start your career in the dynamic construction industry? Big-D Construction is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Site Marshall. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and compliant construction site, offering an excellent opportunity to learn the foundations of construction safety from experienced professionals. You will play a vital role in monitoring site activities, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. This is an on-site position ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and a commitment to preventing accidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify and report potential safety hazards, non-compliance, and unsafe work practices.
- Monitor site activities to ensure all personnel, including contractors and visitors, adhere to established safety procedures and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in the implementation of site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures.
- Support safety officers in conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings for on-site personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper signage, barricades, and access controls are in place and maintained.
- Report all incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns promptly to the Site Safety Officer.
- Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to address safety issues effectively.
Required Skills
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Reliability and a strong commitment to safety.
- Ability to comprehend and follow safety instructions and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Previous exposure or experience in a construction or industrial setting.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.
