Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist special education teachers and therapists in planning and implementing music-based activities and lessons.
  • Facilitate individual and group music sessions tailored to the specific needs and abilities of students.
  • Prepare and organize musical instruments, materials, and equipment for sessions.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, encouraging participation and engagement in musical activities.
  • Observe and report on student progress and behavior during music sessions to the lead therapist/teacher.
  • Help maintain a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to integrate music therapy goals with broader educational and therapeutic objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing paid training and professional development opportunities.
  • Adapt music activities to suit various developmental levels and physical limitations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper storage of all musical equipment after use.

Required Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or background in music, education, psychology, or a related field
  • CPR and First Aid certification
