Job Description
Planet Labs is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Ecology Video Labeler to join our Environmental AI Research team in Portland, OR. In this hybrid role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our understanding of Earth’s ecosystems by accurately labeling video footage for the training of cutting-edge artificial intelligence models. Your work will directly contribute to projects focused on wildlife monitoring, habitat assessment, and climate change research, utilizing our extensive satellite imagery and observational data. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a foundational understanding of ecological principles, and a commitment to data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review and label video footage and images of ecological phenomena, species, and environmental changes according to detailed guidelines and specifications.
- Identify and categorize various objects, behaviors, and environmental features relevant to ecological research.
- Ensure the highest level of data quality and consistency through diligent self-review and adherence to established protocols.
- Collaborate with AI researchers and data scientists to refine labeling guidelines and improve annotation processes.
- Provide constructive feedback on labeling tools and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new labeling techniques, project requirements, and ecological concepts.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Basic understanding of ecological concepts, biodiversity, and environmental processes.
- Proficiency with computer applications and experience using digital annotation or data entry tools.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high productivity in a structured environment.

- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
