Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Specialized Instrument Operator to join our team in Mississauga. This role is critical for ensuring the precise operation, monitoring, and calibration of advanced analytical and process control instruments. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in all operations and data recording. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot complex analytical and process control instrumentation across various systems.
  • Perform precise calibration, verification, and preventative maintenance on specialized instruments according to established schedules and protocols.
  • Record, analyze, and interpret data generated by instruments with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Identify and resolve instrument malfunctions, performing minor repairs or escalating complex issues to senior technicians.
  • Ensure all operations comply with internal safety guidelines, quality standards, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate operational logs, calibration records, and maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to optimize instrument performance and data integrity.
  • Support the development and refinement of operational procedures for new and existing instrumentation.

Required Skills

  • Proven proficiency in operating and maintaining specialized industrial or scientific instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronics, mechanics, and fluid dynamics as they relate to instrumentation.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from technical manuals, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving instrument issues.
  • Competency in using computer software for data acquisition, analysis, and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience operating instruments in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, oil & gas).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Experience with specific instrument types such as spectrometers, chromatographs, mass flow controllers, or pressure/temperature transducers.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
