Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Stem Cell Research Intern to join our innovative biotechnology team in Bexley, London. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge stem cell research, contributing to projects aimed at understanding disease mechanisms and developing novel therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced scientists, utilizing various laboratory techniques and contributing to experimental design and data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates passionate about biotechnology and regenerative medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the culture and maintenance of various human and animal stem cell lines, including iPSCs and MSCs.
- Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and Western blotting.
- Contribute to experimental design, data collection, and preliminary analysis under supervision.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and notebooks.
- Prepare reagents, media, and other materials required for experiments.
- Adhere to strict laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practice (GLP).
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cell biology and molecular biology principles.
- Familiarity with sterile cell culture techniques (aseptic technique).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hands-on laboratory experience, particularly with stem cell culture.
- Experience with microscopy and image analysis software.
- Knowledge of CRISPR-Cas9 or other gene editing technologies.
- Familiarity with basic bioinformatics tools.
