Job Description
Are you eager to learn a valuable trade and build a rewarding career? Bernards is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Tiler Assistants. This entry-level position is perfect for those with no prior experience in tiling, offering comprehensive on-the-job training to develop a highly sought-after skill. You will work alongside experienced tilers, assisting with various tasks and learning the techniques required for precise and durable tile installations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced tilers in preparing surfaces for tile installation, including cleaning, leveling, and applying waterproofing membranes.
- Measure, cut, and grind tiles using hand and power tools under supervision.
- Mix and apply mortar, grout, and adhesives according to project specifications.
- Help lay tiles in various patterns and configurations, ensuring proper alignment and spacing.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment daily.
- Transport materials and supplies to and from the work area.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Actively participate in on-the-job training and skill development programs.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn a new trade.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites within the Santa Monica and greater Los Angeles area.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and practices.
- Previous experience in a general labor or construction environment.
- Valid California Driver's License.
